Properties of Pomegranate and Its Ayurvedic Remedies
(Introduction)
Pomegranate trees are grown everywhere in our country. Pomegranates grown in the northern part of Afghanistan and India are very juicy and of good quality. Pomegranate trees are about 6 meters high with many branches. Its bark is smooth, thin, yellow or dark brown in colour. The leaves are slightly longer and less broad, and the flowers are orange and red, sometimes single or in clusters of 3-4 petals with yellow 5-7 petals. Pomegranate fruits are spherical, about 2 inches in diameter. After removing the peel of its fruit, there are juicy grains of white, red, or pink color. In terms of juice, this fruit is of three types: sweet, sour-sweet, and sour. Not only the fruit of the pomegranate but also its tree is rich in medicinal properties. More properties are found in bud and peel than in fruit.

Consumption of pomegranate eliminates the lack of blood in the body, softens the stomach, brings urine, and is beneficial for the heart. Eliminates thirst. Reinforces the metal, nourishes every organ of the body. It is useful in various diseases. The fine powder of pomegranate is tasty, digestible and appetizing and it is beneficial in anorexia, neophile, indigestion, diarrhoea, throat diseases, weakness and cough.
According to scientific opinion, pomegranate contains 78 percent moisture, 14.5 percent carbohydrates, 1.6 percent protein, and 0.1 percent fat. Apart from this, there are phosphorus, calcium, sodium, magnesium, potassium, oxalic acid, copper, iron, sulfur, tannins, sugars, and vitamins. The bark of the fruit contains up to 25 percent, the pulp of the stem up to 25 percent, the leaves 11 percent, and the root bark 28 percent tannins.
(Harmful effects)
All types of pomegranates are harmful to those with cold natures. Sweet pomegranate can be harmful for those with fever; sour and pale pomegranate can be harmful for those with cold mood.
(Treatment of various diseases)
Nosebleeds or nosebleeds:
Bleeding from the nose stops with pomegranate juice in the nose.
Extracting the root juice of the pomegranate flower and Durga (grass called Dub) and putting it in the nose and applying it on the palate, the flow of blood coming out of the nose due to heat immediately stops.
Grind 100 grams of pomegranate green leaves, 50 grams of marigold leaves, 100 grams of green coriander, and 100 grams of green door (grass) together and mix it in water and make sherbet. Bleeding from the nose is cured by drinking this syrup 4 times a day.
Giving 100 ml pomegranate juice to the patient of nosebleeds (bleeding from the nose) continuously for a few days is beneficial.
Mix 2 teaspoons of sugar candy in half a cup of sweet pomegranate juice and drink it daily in the afternoon; it cures the nosebleeds (bleeding from the nose) of the summer season.
Putting pomegranate juice in the nostrils stops bleeding from the nose. Pomegranate is beneficial in fever and appendicitis, which lasts for more than 7 days. The pomegranate bud that falls down with gusts of wind as soon as it comes out is supposed to remove over-shrinkage and wetness. By dripping 1-2 drops of their juice in the nose or by sniffing, bleeding from the nose stops. It is a very useful medicine for nosebleeds.
Grinding pomegranate peel with water and coating it with water provides relief in swelling, and dripping its dry fine powder in the nose is beneficial in nosebleeds.
Drinking 10 grams of juice from pomegranate leaves and applying it on the forehead provides relief in nosebleeds.
Bleeding from the nose due to heat:
The juice of pomegranate flower and dub root should be extracted and put in the nose, or only the juice of pomegranate flower should be poured in the nose and applied on the brain. This stops bleeding from the nose.
Excessive urination (polyuria):
Take 1 teaspoon of pomegranate peel powder with a cup of water 3 times a day. This eliminates polyuria.
Dry the pomegranate peels in the shade and make a fine powder. Take 3 grams of powder with water in the morning and evening to get rid of frequent urination.
Beauty of the face:
Mix fine powder of pomegranate peels in rose water and make a good paste. Apply this paste regularly while sleeping and wash the face in the morning. This will remove stains, freckles, and shine in the face.
Mix the juice of 100 ml of fresh green leaves of pomegranate in 1 kg of mustard. Massaging this oil on the face destroys facial nails, freckles, and black spots.
Body Heat:
Drinking pomegranate juice mixed with water removes increased body heat during the summer days.
Indigestion, especially due to overeating:
Mix 3 teaspoons of pomegranate juice with 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds and the same amount of jaggery and take it after meals; it eliminates indigestion.
Grind 40 grams of powdered dried pomegranate leaves and 10 grams of rock salt in the shade and make a fine powder. Indigestion is cured by taking 4-4 grams with water before meals in the morning and evening.
Prepare a total mixture of 50 grams by taking pomegranate juice, honey, and sesame oil in equal quantities. Mix 6 grams of cumin seeds and 6 grams of khanda in it and fill it in the mouth and keep running the mouth for a while. When the eyes start watering from the nose, rinse and then fill the new juice in the mouth again. Do this 8-10 times a day. Apart from this, when there is no appetite at all and there is a disorder in the liver, then there is also a benefit in that condition.
Fill 1 gram of sour, sweet pomegranate juice in the mouth and stir it slowly and drink it. In this way, by doing it 8 or 10 times, the taste of the mouth improves digestion of intestinal defects (intestinal disorders) and also removes the anorexia caused by fever.
Mix honey with sweet pomegranate juice and drink it; it provides relief in anorexia.
Bleeding from the tooth:
Pomegranate flowers are dried in the shade and ground finely. Rubbing it in the teeth 2 or 3 times a day like toothpaste stops bleeding from the teeth and strengthens the teeth.
Vomiting:
Grind pomegranate seeds and mix a little black pepper and salt in it and eat it; it provides relief in vomiting and nervousness of bile.
Drinking pomegranate juice eliminates vomiting in pregnant women.
Vomiting is stopped by licking pomegranate juice mixed with honey.
Soak the dried pomegranate seeds in water. After a while, drinking this water is beneficial in vomiting.
Mix 25 grams of puffed rice flour and 25 grams of sugar in 200 ml of juice of sweet and sour pomegranate. Its use also removes physical heat, and this use is also beneficial for calming gall fever. Irritation, distraction, vomiting, and thirst of fever due to heat stroke are also eradicated by its use.
Children's cough:
Children should be given pomegranate bark to eat when they have a cough, or pomegranate juice should be mixed with ghee, sugar, cardamom, and almonds.
Diarrhea and dysentery in children:
Children get benefits from rubbing pomegranate bark and drinking it when they complain of diarrhea or dysentery.
Intestinal worms:
A decoction of pomegranate root and stem bark should be made and given or mixed with sesame oil in the decoction of pomegranate bark should be given for 3 days. It destroys stomach worms.
If the pumpkin is a worm, then grind the bark of 50 grams of pomegranate root coarsely and boil it in 2 liters of water. After this, take 50 grams in the morning on an empty stomach, 4 times a day at an interval of half an hour. Then consume castor oil once. Children should be given up to 10 ml of decoction.
Finely grind the dried pomegranate leaves in the shade and use 6 grams of it in the morning with cow's buttermilk or with fresh water. This removes all stomach worms.
Prepare a decoction by crushing 10 grams of bark of pomegranate root, Abiding, and Indaba 6-6 grams. After this, by consuming the decoction, the stomach worms die and come out with feces.
Boil 20-20 grams of sour pomegranate peel and mulberry in 200 ml of water and drink it; it destroys stomach worms.
Take 50 grams of fresh bark from the root of the pomegranate tree and cut it into pieces. Boil 5 grams of Pales seed powder and 10 grams of Dividing in one liter of water. Keep boiling until half the water remains. After that, take it down and filter it when it cools down. Drinking this water four times a day at an interval of half an hour in the quantity of 50-50 grams and later giving laxatives of castor oil removes all types of stomach worms.
Powder of dried pomegranate peels should be taken in the amount of 1 teaspoon 3 times a day regularly for a few days. This destroys stomach worms. This use is also beneficial in bloody diarrhea, bloody hemorrhoids, nightmares, and excessive menstruation.
Take off the bark of pomegranate fruit, then make a decoction from it and mix 1 gram of sesame oil in it and drink it; stomach worms are eliminated.
Make a decoction by mixing pomegranate root bark, paella seeds, and viewing. By drinking this decoction with honey, the cotton, flat, and round worms inside the stomach are killed and expelled through feces.
Mix sweet oil in the decoction of pomegranate root and consume it for 3 days; intestinal worms are eliminated.
Boil 50 grams of pomegranate root bark in 250 ml of water; when the water remains in 100 grams, then drink this decoction 3-4 times a day; it eliminates stomach worms.
Take 3 grams of pomegranate peel powder with curd or buttermilk (whey). Soak pomegranate bark in water for 24 hours, then boil the same water and drink it on an empty stomach in the morning.
Heat Pitta:
Add the juice of pomegranate seeds to the sugar syrup and filter it with a cloth. Drink 20 grams of sorbet, if required, with 20 ml of water. This destroys the heat.
